We Have A Choice (SpeakUp)

Image
Hi guys       The presidential election is tomorrow February 16, my fellow Nigerians are you guys excited?. Because I sure am, but i can't say for all Nigerians. I really can't generalise my opinion on this matter.       I have a strong feeling about this election hopefully it won't be fatal. During this period individuals get hyped and emotional  (politically).       But this article  is not about the debate between political parties , it's to remind us that we have a choice. During this particular time individuals try to force their opinions on others. When it comes to politics we have different opinions and rooting for different political parties.       However many believe that the election will be closely fought between the candidate of the two leading parties  (APC & PDP) but forgetting that there are alot more registerd candidates who will appear on the ballot paper on February 16, 2019. Just A Reminder...

Image
Hi guys       Happy new year fam. So last year almost everyone made some sort of new year goals or new year resolutions that they want to achieve or something they just want to get over with or be done with. "I did too". This post is just a reminder for those declarations. Its pretty easy to pick up a pen and write or declare what we want, but in other for us to see the results, we have to put in the work.       Some of us might have forgotten what we declared. To be honest i also can't remember some of them (i did not write them down). And sometimes it just comes to my mind.       For me this year I choose to be Happy unapologetically, i choose to embrace My Self worth, Self love and Self improvement. Now I realized that with all that I have set to achieve, I can't achieve them with some certain kinds of people around me or with some of my current attitude or mentality. I have a very small circle of friends and i must say that am ver...

Outgrowing Cultural Beliefs?...

Image
Hi guys,       It's been a while but baby girl is back, two days ago i was on twitter and i saw a trend of a newly wedded bride who posted these on her page " Speaking of submission,  doing my yoruba engagement, my husband and i told the Alagas to not use that word or ask me to kneel for him. Everyone told me that it wouldn't be possible  because, culture.  But guess whose kneels didn't touch the ground? "        Good for you girl but i was more interested with the comment section and while going through, i was convinced that there were two stories been told here. One is by the bride with a feminist belief and the other is by the public out growing cultural beliefs.       In Nigeria we have more than 250 ethnic tribes which leads to different cultural beliefs. The three largest and most dominant ethnic groups are the Yoruba, Hausa and Igbo. Culture is traditionally the oldest human character, it is based...

Forget Societal Ills Women Face and Try....

Image
Hi guys, i know i have been absent for a while and I apologise for that. Today I want to talk about our opinion toward ladies. I have heard few guys perceptions and their opinion to the way ladies should be treated or the way they are expected to behave in certain situations.       In this article i am conceptualizing " Ladies " as women and mothers. Women are retained to many physical, economic and even emotional opportunities within a social system. To be a woman in a society means one has to live up to certain societal expectations.       In Africa we still maintain some of our cultural norms and values despite the transition from pre-modern/traditional to a modern society. However the society expect women to be the absorber of societal ills.  Women are expected to stay "in a domestic violence relationship because this is what is expected from a WISE woman who wants to keep her Husband or Man". The society also have...

WHAT ARE THE ODDS OF A PARENT DOING IT ALL WRONG?.

Image
Most parent's try their best to make their children happy and to raise them to their very best. The definition of raising one's kid the RIGHT WAY is a concept unique to family morals and ethics.            Most articles I have read stipulated that there are no right way to raise your kids, i agree  BUT . There is still a clear difference between Right and Wrong . Some parents use this excuse to raise their kids in bad and unconfortable environment's.       There are different types of parenting recognised in psychology today. You can either be a kind of parent that is accommodating, loving but at the same time strict with your rules and consequences and taking your kids into consideration, this type of parenting is called Authoritative Parenting .         You can also choose to be type of parent that does not listen to his/her kids, they don't care of their children'...

UNBALANCED LIVELIHOOD

Image
Hi guys,  Today, I want to talk about the relationship and the imbalance between White collar jobs, Blue collar jobs and Pink collar jobs. Oftentimes we fail to realize the link between these jobs and the sectors in which they exist.  In Africa and other part of the world, people tend to focus more attention on certain sectors, and at the same time see others as beyond their reach or dimining (according to Urban Dictionary). Nevertheless, irrespective of the values members of the society place on it, (white collar sector, blue collar sector and pink collar jobs) they all rely on each other.

Hypocritical Beings

Image
I talked about Being Judged in one of my articles, and today's societal problem is actually not too different  from it. Being judgmental is passing out judgment or voicing an opinion on others about what they should do, wear or how to live their lives. A hypocrite judges someone and still engages in those same actions or thought either secretly or publicly, majority of US engage consciously in such  actions and are still quick to crucify others.        This actions of hasty judgement has become a norm among Nigerians and people show no remorse or concern about such issue, despite the fact that Nigeria is one of the most Religious country in Africa, this is where Christianity, Islam, African Traditional Religion (ATR) exist in large majority and Hinduism, Buddhism and others exist in small group, but our actions and morals negate the doctrine and practices of Religion. Some of us from this part of the world...
