Forget Societal Ills Women Face and Try....

    Hi guys, i know i have been absent for a while and I apologise for that. Today I want to talk about our opinion toward ladies. I have heard few guys perceptions and their opinion to the way ladies should be treated or the way they are expected to behave in certain situations.

      In this article i am conceptualizing "Ladies" as women and mothers. Women are retained to many physical, economic and even emotional opportunities within a social system. To be a woman in a society means one has to live up to certain societal expectations.

      In Africa we still maintain some of our cultural norms and values despite the transition from pre-modern/traditional to a modern society. However the society expect women to be the absorber of societal ills. Women are expected to stay "in a domestic violence relationship because this is what is expected from a WISE woman who wants to keep her Husband or Man". The society also have a way of making women believe that they can't survive without a man or be a respected member of the society. They are also made to believe that most men(husbands or boyfriends) cheat in relationships, so when they do wives or girlfriend's should not be angry or surprised but be acceptable and be open to forgiveness, i once had this notion and this is one of the reasons why we need to re-educate ladies and let them know that just because abnormal things happens almost everytime does not make it Normal or Right.

      The people in a society makes the society, they also form the norms and values we follow and live by. There are list of rules which the society makes and as we grow the list also goes on. However there are separate rules for the guys and the ladies, for example: women are suppose to know how to cook and do housework, they are not expected to be in politics or in some cases be a working class mother but sit at home taking care the children and the family, it's not adviceable to leave your parents house until you are married, it's not adviceable to purchase an expensive car or house until you are married or engaged( believing that you will scare or intimidate a potential husband away with your success) believe me in the 21st century some people still think like this, also women are suppose to be virgins till they are married, highly submissive, highly emotional i.e damsel in distress and not the hero, not as strong as a man and the list goes on. While the men are suppose to be strong, provide for the family, emotionally strong, involve in politics, sometimes it's acceptable if a man is not a virgin before he is married.

    

Although some men want there Lady to be brave, smart, hardworking, and also help with financial situations. A woman that is independent ( who inspire's her man) and also emotionally mature. So ladies stop belittling yourselves to societal ills, there are no excuses.

   Quick talk to the ladies, we can't also deny the fact some of us (women) give men and the society the power to see us as weak, unprofessional, sex object and every other negative labels. Most times with our immoral act we label ourselves with these nagative societal ills. Truth be told we can do better, most women however are determined to change these notion and negative society ills. They have done tremendous things by making changes, showing us that we can be more than what the society says a woman should be. There are women out there fighting for equality for women. we need to show support and aim higher.

Forget society ills women face and try this.....

• Find your voice as a woman
• Know that you are enough
• Have a sense of humour trust me you will need it
• Be a keeper, be fun to be with but don't over do it
• Be respectful and also respect yourself
• Have a vision
• Assist your Man when he is weak or in doubt, be a contributor
• Women are more than mothers or house keepers or sex objects( YOU ARE WHO YOU ALLOW). So don't have that notion that, that is all you can be. You can be more, combine all this character's and be a Royalty.

You deserve to be that LADY, WOMAN and MOTHER.
